anti satellite technologyYES

# It’s a disguised US response to Chinese test last year that will further intensify the space arms race.

# After China, it’s US and now most certainly Russia and UK will follow the suit, hence, it’ll be a new war sphere.

NO

# It shouldn’t be taken other than an effort to save humans from the hazardous toxic fuel that the defunct satellite contained.

# This technological advancement is the right step to save earth, in case nuclear war erupts in near future.

you answered the very question with "After China, it’s US and now most certainly Russia and UK..." and there are no doubts but certainty that now the space will be added in new arms race of world's conflict arena.

this is nothing new but the probability always lingered around...do hell with space arms race but bother about the destructive arsenals that we've piled up on the earth...that makes more sense than to be worried about no man's land

we don't care whatever russia or chinna say...we gotta right to have the defensive technology to save us from the rogue states. and there is nothing to do with the the space race, we only save the world from the hazards of the fuel tank that could spill and harm humans. had that not been done and there would have been catastrophic effects of the fluid fuel...but alas we are blamed in either of the two conditions...this is not fair!!!

No there's no harm in proving that we are growing our technological capabilities. if it turns out to be the warfare in the space it will only minimize the loss of life and property on the surface because whichever country will show its might in the space would lead to the submission of the country on the loser's end. But to be optimistic abt the not so new technology it would not be wrong to test such missiles in the outer space.

this is sheer cheating man!!!but now it gives the clear message that US has the capacity to gun down satellite, but yes they did it to save the world from hazards of the satellite...poor argument!!!similar to one that Japan gives for hunting whales and both want world to trust them nahhh...there is neither reason nor credibility in the argument

Science is for mankind. The weaponization of space had taken long back and only now the Chinese are crying about it. They have a space weaponization programme of their own.

Anyway, without taking weapons into space, we can never hope to destroy a 'rogue' artificial satellite, an asteroid or a comet coming towards earth that may wipe out life from this planet.

USA cannot be militarily defeated by any nation on earth or even if the next 10 big powers after USA combine their forces to attack it. It is the world's greatest and invincible military that will remain the same for a long, long time to come.

As the leading country that shows path to the world in science and technology, we must support the USA for our own survival. If the missile defense shield was not erected with a web of satellite network tracking hostile objects then this satellite could have fallen in populated areas with substantial loss of life.

I don't think US is doing the right thing with its anti-missile system. But it is necessary as this incident has proved. But it must be a world project to save earth not a military project. Hope this will encourage world peace.

2 possible things and no 3rd reason:

1. US destroyed it to show China and Russia. Used the (lame) excuse it was carrying toxins.
2. US had to do it because of the top secret nature of the satellite.
